This Easter, Bownessie is bringing the mystery of Lake Windermere to life through a special pilot family experience at The Royalty in Bowness-on-Windermere, running 1st April to 6th April, daily from 1:30pm to 6:30pm.
Created as a pilot concept for a growing Lake District family brand rooted in local folklore, the experience invites both adults and children to step into the legend of “The Mystery of Windermere – Myth or Truth?”
The event combines mystery, storytelling, creativity, and relaxed family fun. Children can enjoy free colouring sheets, themed activity packs, and take-home discovery tasks, allowing the story of Bownessie to continue long after families leave. Parents can unwind while children stay engaged, making it an ideal Easter holiday activity in the heart of Bowness.
The wider vision behind the pilot is to explore how local folklore can be transformed into immersive family experiences, educational tourism, creative workshops, keepsakes, and future collaborations across Cumbria and beyond.
